English Paper Piecing Group 2023-2024

Who:  Anyone who has an interest in English Paper Piecing with applique or hand sewing.  If you don’t know how, come and learn from us.  We are happy to help you learn.  

What:  English Paper Piecing  Small Group 

Where:  Scrubgrass Grange Hall on Route 208, Emlenton, PA 16373

When: Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm on the dates below 

Cost:  $2 per night to cover the cost of using the Grange Hall.  If you need a kit to start, they are available for $5 each.

Fabric Requirements for Clam Shell Pouch 

• Fat 1/8th fabric for outside of clamshell pouch
• Fat 1/8th fabric for lining of clamshell pouch 
• 4” x 40” or WOF fabric for pouch binding 
• 13 -  2.5” squares fabric for clamshells 
• 10” x 20” scrap of batting 

Fabric for Hexagon Star-a-Day 

• Large assortment of colored scraps 
• Large assortment of background scraps 
• ⅔ yard of fabric for large diamonds 
• 1 yard of fabric for border hexagons 
• ⅔ yard of fabric for binding

Fabric for Queen’s Folly 

• 2.5” x 24” fabric for center diamonds
• 5” x 36” fabric for petals 
• 3” x 48” fabric for small petals
• 3.5” x 48 fabric for outer leaves
• 15” x 15” background fabric to applique the completed rosette onto

Other supplies needed: 

• Sharp pencil 
• Fine permanent pen or marker to mark stitching lines
• Sharp fabric scissors 
• Thimble if you use one
• Fine needle threader if you have one 
• thread conditioner if you like to use it 
• a small ruler might be helpful at times
• appliqué pins and/or regular pins
• Glue pen with extra glue sticks if you have one, otherwise we will      have washable glue sticks available
